ABACUS SERIES

The abacus is an ancient Asian numeral calculating device. The abacus was widely used by merchants and scholars before the introduction of calculators or computers and is still relied on even today for its consistent results. Five beads stacked on the bottom portion and three stacked on the upper part; each row represents a number when slid up or down.

The following two paintings are called “In” and “Out“. The first painting represents Global Wealth as of 2015. The numerical  figure for “in” is 75,621,858,232,788. The second painting represents Global Debt as of 2015. The numerical figure for “out” is 201,198,250,325,888.

LIGHT SERIES

numbers on the laws of physics. Being both aesthetically pleasing and science-specific, the Light Series soon took physical form.

The following four paintings are part of the Light Series:

"Light No.1" and "Light No.2" are artistic representations of the speed of light.

"The cause" is the artistic rendering of The Big Bang.

"Abyss "is the last initial vanishing point of light.

Nominal is an abacus calculation depicting the number of years the Hubble Telescope suggests it's been since the Big Bang took place.

ALGORITHMIC AUTOBIOGRAPHY COLOUR CODES

Algorithmic Autobiography Colour Codes' was generated by gathering web browser personal data based on internet activity history. The colours shown on the three panels are my web browser's understanding of my most desired colours (the colours I most consistently engaged with or responded to). As part of my graduate thesis, I invested time in manipulating these predictive algorithms. Interestingly, this caused discrepancies in my collected data, which starkly contrasted with my factual data. I called this interference 'the glitches' and further exaggerated the data as a symbol of manipulating the algorithms your browser uses to identify you.
